Aged larch, an eight-metre pool and a west-facing window framed entirely around the mountain.

The Chalet

Larix is built from 200-year-old timber reclaimed from farm buildings across the Mattertal, set against blackened steel and pale plaster. The effect is contemporary but deeply Swiss.

The living room's single picture window is positioned so that the peak sits dead centre — a piece of choreography best appreciated at sunrise, coffee in hand.
